UH Officer Shot At Restaurant

HOUSTON -- A University of Houston police officer was shot in a drive-by shooting at an east Houston restaurant, officials told KPRC Local 2.

The officer was taking his meal break at the restaurant located at 10333 East Freeway at about 1:10 a.m. when someone drove by and opened fire.

One of the bullets struck the officer while he was sitting inside. He was wearing a bulletproof vest and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Police said the gunman escaped in a silver or gray four-door 1993 or 1994 Isuzu Rodeo with tinted windows.
