'Grinning Girl' Robs North Houston Bank
POSTED: Tuesday, August 7, 2007
HOUSTON -- Investigators asked the public for help Tuesday to find a bank robber they have dubbed the "grinning girl," KPRC Local 2 reported.
FBI officials said the "grinning girl" waited in line at a Wachovia Bank in the 4400 block of the North Freeway at about 4:20 p.m.
She waited for a teller to call her, officials said. When the teller asked how she could help her, the "grinning girl" unzipped a blue bank bag, removed a note and slipped it to the teller, investigators said.
The note was a written demand for money and indicated she had a gun, officials said.
Detectives said the teller complied with the demand.
The "grinning girl" placed the money in the bag and walked out, investigators said. She never spoke to the teller, officials said.
Investigators said the "grinning girl" is black, in her early 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 130 pounds with a slim build and dark complexion. She had braided hair that was sticking out of a white baseball cap. She was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and khaki pants.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
