UPDATED: 5:22 pm CDT July 15, 2007

A man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly set his girlfriend on fire, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Conroe police said John Marshall Dodd beat Terry Lee Bailey and doused her with gasoline at her home on Fay Street near Toby Lane at about 11:10 p.m. Saturday.

Bailey suffered burns over 95 percent of her body. She was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.

Police said Dodd confessed to getting gasoline from the garage and pouring it over Bailey after the couple had an argument.

Bailey has worked for Child Protective Services for more than 20 years.

Dodd is in the Montgomery County Jail with bond set at $150,000.
