HOUSTON -- A top magazine ranked
M.D. Anderson Cancer Center the top cancer hospital in the nation, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.
The hospital received the top honor in
U.S. News and World Report's America's Best Hospitals survey.
The rankings are determined by nationwide doctor surveys, patient survival rates, nurse-to-patient ratio and technology and services for the community.
"We're extremely happy," Dr. Thomas Feeley said. "This is a reflection of the quality care our 16,000 employees offer to our patients with cancer. It's a tremendous honor to be No. 1 in the nation."
M.D. Anderson also received the top ranking in 1992, 2000 and 2002-2004.
The hospital was also ranked No. 7 for urology and ear, nose and throat and No. 8 for gynecology.
M.D. Anderson has served 79,000 patients and invested $409 million in cancer research in the past year.
