UPDATED: 10:15 am CDT July 13, 2007

One person died in a multivehicle wreck in Montrose on Thursday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston police said the driver of a Ford Excursion lost control and hit a telephone pole on Westheimer Road near Mulberry Street at about 7:30 p.m.

The pole snapped and the Excursion hit a Volvo and a Jeep, police said.

Investigators said the Jeep spun and hit a parked Honda.

The driver of the Jeep, 53-year-old Dan Hoyt, was transported to Ben Taub Hospital, where he died.

Two people inside the Volvo were transported to Ben Taub Hospital. They were treated and released.

Police said the Excursion hit a house after colliding with the vehicles. Some of the bricks were knocked off a wall, but the home did not sustain major damage.

The driver and passenger inside the Excursion were not injured.

Detectives said the case will be presented to the Harris County District Attorney's Office for possible charges.

Westheimer Road was closed for about three hours while police investigated.
