Two men have been arrested in connection with a robbery at a Wal-Mart Super Center, KPRC Local 2 reported Thursday.

Richmond police said Jose Acosta, 36, and Juan Munoz, 38, participated in the robbery at the store in the 5300 block of F.M. 1640 at about 2 a.m. on June 14.

Police said the robbery was an inside job.

Detectives said a man handed Munoz, store's assistant manager, a cellular phone and told him he had a call.

The person on the other end of the phone told Munoz to comply with his demands so no one would be hurt, police said.

The majority of the store's employees were in the back of the store holding a party for a department manager.

Munoz told police that he was taken into the money room at the front of the store. More than $150,000 was placed into bags, officials said.

Investigators said Munoz was walked out to his Dodge Durango pickup truck, where two other men were waiting.

All of the men, including Munoz, got into the truck and drove away. Munoz was dropped off in the middle of a field.

While police were investigating a theft report at the store, Munoz walked up and told them he had been robbed.

Munoz had bruises and marks all over his body. Police said he told them the men beat him up before letting him out of the truck.

Detectives found Munoz's truck on Ricefield Road in Rosenberg at about 10 a.m.

Investigators said Acosta and Munoz had a large amount of money in their possession when they were arrested.

The investigation is ongoing and police said more arrests could be made.
