Cause Of 3-Alarm High-Rise Fire Released

POSTED: Monday, June 25, 2007

Investigators released the cause on Monday of a three-alarm fire that ripped through a downtown high-rise building last week, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston firefighters said an electrical malfunction in a copy machine on the 10th floor sparked the blaze at the 12-story Binz building at 1001 Texas St. on Tuesday.

More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze.

Hundreds of employees were evacuated from the building and were allowed to return later that afternoon.

No injuries were reported.
