Woman Hit, Killed By Tow Truck

POSTED: Sunday, June 24, 2007
UPDATED: 10:06 am CDT June 25, 2007

A woman was killed when she was hit by a tow truck as the driver took her car, officials told KPRC Local 2.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the woman was killed at the Lazy Acres mobile home park near Baytown late Saturday.

Investigators said the wrecker driver was either repossessing the woman's four-door sedan or stealing it when she was hit.

"All I saw was the headlights and a white truck," said a witness who did not want to be identified. "When he turned the corner I knew it was her car. She was screaming, 'No, no, no!' and then let out a big scream."

Detectives said the woman was run over when she confronted the driver.

The driver did not stop to help the woman, deputies said.

"I found her and I was trying to calm her down and I checked her pulse," the witness said. "I told her to hang in there, to breathe."

The woman suffered severe head injuries and died at a hospital. Her identity was not released.

Deputies said they do not have any suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
