Off-Duty HPD Officer Hits Pedestrian

HOUSTON -- A pedestrian was injured when she was struck by an off-duty police officer's car, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Houston police said the 17-year-old girl was hit when she ran into the middle of the Gulf Freeway near Scarsdale Boulevard at about 12:30 a.m.
The officer tried to slow down to avoid hitting the teen, but was not able to in time.
The teen was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators said the teen lives at a nearby apartment complex and was likely headed home when she was hit.
