HOUSTON -- The city of Houston is giving drivers with parking, traffic and non-traffic tickets one last chance to pay up before a warrant sweep, KPRC Local 2 reported Monday.
"We are trying to offer people a chance to go ahead and clear the matter at a reduced rate," said Gwendolyn Goins with the city of Houston.
Some penalties and fees on citations delinquent on or before Feb. 28 will be waived.
The city will conduct a warrant sweep on unpaid tickets immediately after the amnesty period ends on June 15.
About 300,000 people have unpaid tickets, officials said.
"You don't necessarily have to go before a judge to take care of this," Goins said.
Motorists can settle their tickets in person, by mail or online.
