Woman Hit, Killed On Gulf Freeway

HOUSTON -- A woman was hit and killed standing next to her disabled car on the Gulf Freeway on Monday afternoon, KPRC Local 2 reported.

The incident happened on the main southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway between NASA Road 1 and FM 518 shortly before 5 p.m.

Officials said the woman got out of her car when it had problems and she was hit while standing next to it. She died at the scene.

Traffic was backed up for miles until emergency crews cleared the scene.
