Restaurant Evacuated After Fire Breaks Out

POSTED: Thursday, April 26, 2007

A southwest Houston restaurant was evacuated after the outside of the building caught fire on Wednesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston firefighters received reports that the Chili's on Westheimer Road near Greenridge Drive was on fire at about 9:45 p.m.

Firefighters arrived and discovered no one inside knew about the fire.

Managers evacuated the customers and staff while crews put out the flames.

Investigators said a neon light that wraps around the building shorted out and caught fire.

The restaurant is expected to be closed for several days while repairs are made
