North Forest ISD Police Officer Indicted

POSTED: Tuesday, April 24, 2007
UPDATED: 2:35 pm CDT April 24, 2007

A North Forest Independent School District police officer has been indicted on charges of impersonating a police officer, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.

Cinthia Spurling worked as a reserve deputy with the Harris County Precinct 7 Constable's Office before working with the school district.

Prosecutors said Spurling worked off-duty security jobs as an officer before and after she left the constable's office. Reserve deputy constables are not permitted to work off-duty security jobs.

Detectives said that Spurling could not work as an officer because she was not commissioned by a law enforcement agency.

Investigators said the North Forest ISD police captain alerted them to Spurling's activities.

Spurling has been indicted on two counts of impersonating a police officer and one county of giving a false statement to obtain credit. Investigators said she provided false financial information on a car loan application.
