UPDATED: 5:01 pm CDT April 24, 2007

Two toddlers were nearly abducted from a southwest Houston park on Monday, officials told KPRC Local 2.

Houston police said a nanny was watching the 1- and 2-year-old children at the park in the Shadowlake subdivision in the 12300 block of Shadowknoll Drive at about 3:20 p.m.

A woman in a green sport utility vehicle or van asked the nanny if the children belonged to her, police said.

Investigators that the woman tried to pull the children inside her vehicle.

The nanny was able to stop the attack and the woman drove away when she noticed a nearby school was releasing its students, police said.

Detectives said the woman was 35 to 37 years old.

The principal of Outley Elementary School sent home letters to parents to alert them to the attempt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
