12-year-old's chilling 911 call

2 men break into home, boy alone

PORT ARTHUR, TX – A 12-Year-Old Texas boy was home alone last Tuesday when burglars broke into the house. Fortunately the boy kept his cool and called 911.

Dispatcher: "911 What's the emergency? Hello?"

12-Year-Old Deion Murdock was home alone in his Port Arthur home when police say two burglars broke in.

Deion: "They just broke the window."

Dispatcher: "They just broke the window! What room are you in?"

Deion: "I'm in my mother's room right now. Please get here."

Dispatcher: "I am, stay on the phone with me."

The dispatcher told Deion to lock himself in the room. Deion hid in the closet, scared for his life.

Deion: "I'm going to have to whisper now because I think they're coming in."

Dispatcher: "You have any weapons inside the closet?"

Deion: "No ma'am. Please hurry!"

Dispatcher: "They are, they are turning on your street."

Deion faced a terrifying realization.

Deion: "They're in there."

Dispatcher: "They're inside the room now. They're inside the bedroom where he's at."

That was followed by nearly a minute of silence.

Dispatcher: "You there? Deion

Deion: (Inaudible)

Dispatcher: "Okay, stay on the phone with me, Deion. The officers there, okay? I think they're going to catch the guy, okay?"

Deion: "It sounds like there are multiple people."

Dispatcher: "Okay, be quiet."

When officers arrived they saw two men run out of the house, down a canal bank and into the woods.

The two were eventually caught and arrested.

Deion: "So, is the police officer outside the house?"

Dispatcher: "Yeah, but stay inside the closet because they're trying to find the bad guys, okay? You're doing good. Doing real good, doing perfect. Your mom's going to be so proud of you."

Deion: "This is actually the only thing I could think of."

Dispatcher: "Well you thought well. You thought well, you're a very, very smart young man. You did a good thing"

And with that, the terror was over.

Deion's mother was on her way to Port Arthur's Housing Authority when the break-in took place.

She said she's very proud of her son.
