Student, 13, Charged With Gun At School

POSTED: Tuesday, April 10, 2007

A 13-year-old student was arrested at a Fort Bend County school on Tuesday for possession of a handgun, officials told KPRC Local 2.

The seventh-grader attends Hodges Bend Middle School. The principal sent a letter home to parents that outlined the alleged incident.

In the letter, the principal said he was informed that a student was in possession of a 9mm handgun and called police.

The student was arrested without incident and transported to the Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention Center, where he is being held on a felony charge of "places weapons prohibited," according to authorities.

The student, whose name was not released because he is a minor, was immediately suspended from school pending the outcome of an investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBISD Student Crimestoppers Hotline at 281-491-TIPS. Calls remain anonymous.
