Police: 'Have A Nice Day' Thief Offers Clerk Parting Words

Deerfield Beach CVS Store Scene Of Early-Morning Robbery

POSTED: Friday, March 23, 2007
UPDATED: 1:51 pm CDT March 23, 2007

A gunman who robbed a pharmacy early Tuesday morning told the store's clerk to "have a nice day" after he headed out the door with stolen cash.

Jeannette Brown, the 48-year-old clerk at the CVS Pharmacy located at 2 S. Federal Highway, said the man came up to the counter to buy a bottle of soda just after 2 a.m.

When Brown opened the cash register, the man leaned over the counter and told the woman to "hand over all of the money." He then lifted his shirt to show the handle of a pistol and threatened to shoot her if she didn't comply with his demands, Brown said. After the clerk gave him cash, the man turned to walk out the door but stopped to offer the woman the polite parting words.

No one was injured in the robbery, according to police.

Surveillance video shows the black man dressed in a bright orange T-shirt, blue jeans, and was wearing sunglasses. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build, short hair and a receding hairline, according to police.

A cash reward of $1,000 is being offered for any information leading to the man's arrest. Call Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
