HOUSTON -- A man may have swallowed drugs while he led deputies on a chase Monday night, officials told KPRC Local 2.
A Precinct 7 deputy constable spotted a Toyota Corolla without a headlight on the Sam Houston Tollway near Kirby Drive at about 9 p.m.
The deputy tried to stop the car to let the driver know about the light, but the driver took off.
The driver led deputies on a chase to the Little Nell Apartments on the West Sam Houston Tollway near Beechnut Street.
Officials said the driver tried to flee on foot, but he was quickly caught. Deputies said he was combative and they had to use pepper spray to subdue him.
The man was foaming at the mouth when he was arrested, authorities said. Deputies said they believe he swallowed drugs during his failed getaway.
The driver was taken to Ben Taub Hospital to get his stomach pumped.
Deputies said the man faces felony evading arrest charges.
