UPDATED: 1:48 pm CST February 19, 2007

A woman was killed Friday night in a hit-and-run crash outside of Northwest Mall, police told KPRC Local 2.

Houston police said two Subaru vehicles were seen racing on the northbound lanes of Hempstead Highway when one of the drivers lost control of her vehicle.

The car struck and killed Lisa Garcia, 34, while she was waiting for a bus near the 9700 block of Hempstead Highway, investigators said.

The driver then ran from the car into a nearby sports bar, according to police.

Police said the driver was a Hispanic woman between 22 and 24 years old. A Hispanic man between 30 and 34 years old was a passenger in the same vehicle.

The pair was last seen leaving the area in a red Subaru with Texas license plates 007-GLX, officials said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Houston Police Department Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4065.
