HOUSTON -- An incident with a fake grenade at an elementary school prompted officials to send home a letter with students explaining what happened, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District officials said an Adam Elementary student was found with a replica grenade and an empty .50-caliber bullet casing early Tuesday morning.
The child was sitting at a table in the early-morning arrival area with other students when he pulled the items out of his backpack, officials said.
School officials said they took immediate action after another student notified them about the prohibited items.
The student will be disciplined according to the student code of conduct, officials said.
