11-year-old escapes would-be kidnapper

HOUSTON -

A man tried to kidnap an 11-year-old girl Sunday while she was riding bikes with her family, deputy constables said.

Harris County Constable Precinct Five said the girl was riding her bike about a quarter of a mile east of Dairy Ashford on a paved trail in Terry Hershey Park at about 4:20 p.m. Investigators said she stopped for water and a man sitting on a bench grabbed her handlebars and said "Come on!"

The girl was able to get away and she rode off.  Investigators said the girl was riding with her family not far away.

"The man is described as being in his late teens or early 20s with a dark tan. He's a thin guy, about 5-foot-9 and weighs about 120 pounds. He had medium length, straight brown hair and stubble. He had greenish eyes, was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans. He also had a gold earring in his right ear that looked like a dragon," the Precinct Five report said.

The girl was riding with her family, but they were briefly separated.

Please contact Sgt. Larry J. Bauer at the Constable Precinct Five office at 281-463-6666 if you can help solve this case.
