11-year-old Conroe girl escapes kidnapping attempt

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office looks for SUV driver

CONROE, Texas – A man in an SUV tried to pull an 11-year-old girl into his vehicle, deputies said, but the potential kidnapping was thwarted when the child poked the driver in his eye, according to officials.

The incident took place about 5:30 p.m. Sunday outside a home in the 5300 block of Old Highway 105, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were called to the home and met with the girl’s parents, who said their daughter was chasing the family’s pets down the driveway when she was approached by the driver.

The child came running back afterward, and told her parents the man had tried to grab her arm, and he pulled her toward the open window of his SUV.

When the girl poked the man’s eye, he lost his grip, the parents told deputies.

That’s when the girl ran headed to the house and the man sped off. The child said as she was running away, she saw a small, black, four-door passenger car pull up behind the SUV. Then both vehicles drove toward FM 2854.

The attempted kidnapper is described as about 30 to 40 years old with short hair, a mustache, and both of his arms covered in tattoos. He had two small stars near his shoulder at the top of his arms and multiple small stars below his elbow, going toward his wrist with other tattoos in between, the news release said.

Several deputies with the Sheriff’s Office checked the area for the man and the SUV, but didn’t find either. The investigation is ongoing.
