11 arrested in Richmond drug raid

Drugs, gun also confiscated during raid, deputies say

RICHMOND, Texas – Eleven people were arrested and drugs were confiscated when officers raided three homes in Richmond on Tuesday, deputies said.

According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, its Narcotics Task Force conducted the operation to crack down on a number of complaints from residents about drug trafficking in an area of the city known as “Kush Corner.”

Deputies said agents raided three homes in the 200 block of Collins Road, where they found crack cocaine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana, pharmaceuticals and a gun with the serial number removed.

Arrested were 59-year-old Newell Evans, 43-year-old Nora Rivera, 24-year-old Monissa Garces, 31-year-old Latoya Johnson, 46-year-old James Gordon, 43-year-old Charles Johnson, 34-year-old Valentina Bentancur, 55-year-old Carol Cobbin, 27-year-old Elias Ebarra, 28-year-old Jonathan Kaluza and 35-year-old Joseph Owens.

Evans, Rivera, Garces, Latoya Johnson, Gordon, Charles Johnson, Cobbin, Ebarra, Kaluza and Owens were each charged with drug possession.

Latoya Johnson, Gordon, Charles Johnson, Bentancur, Cobbin and Owens were also charged with drug manufacturing or delivery.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls said the operation showcases the importance of community involvement.
