Pedestrian Struck Crossing Road

POSTED: Monday, January 29, 2007

A car struck a man as he tried to cross a northwest Harris County road Sunday night, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the man was hit on state Highway 249 near Fallbrook Drive at about 9 p.m.

"The pedestrian was not crossing the roadway on a crosswalk or an intersection," Sgt. Susan Cotter said. "He was crossing in the middle of the roadway."

Investigators said the man may have been under the influence of alcohol.

The man was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.

Officials said the driver was not ticketed.
