POSTED: Tuesday, January 9, 2007
HUMBLE, Texas -- Two nail salon employees were arrested after undercover officers found counterfeit purses at two different salons, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
Immigration and Custom's Enforcement and Humble police seized more than 300 fake bags and other items from two Humble-area nail salons -- Hanna Nail and Vanna's Nails, according to authorities.
The two women arrested are sisters-in-law, officials said, and never pretended to be selling authentic items.
Police said the women sold the counterfeit items to undercover officers.
They are charged with trademark counterfeiting, a felony.
The estimated retail value of the fake products is about $160,000, investigators said.
