UPDATED: 1:46 pm CST November 22, 2006

An estimated 38 million people will be on the roads and in the skies on the busiest travel day of the year, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.

AAA officials said about 31 million people will drive more than 50 miles today. Officials said gasoline prices in Houston have increased less than one cent from last week.

Travelers can expect long lines at George Bush Intercontinental and Hobby airports. Airport officials recommended travelers get to the airport three hours before their flight is scheduled to depart.

Transportation Security Administration officials said travelers should be sure they have all their 3-ounce or less bottles of liquids, gels and creams inside a clear quart-size bag before reaching the security checkpoint.

Airline passengers are allowed one carry-on bag each.
