Lightning Sparks House Fire
POSTED: Friday, October 27, 2006
HOUSTON -- A lightning bolt caused a southeast Houston home to go up in flames early Friday, officials told KPRC Local 2.
Houston firefighters responded to the blaze on Brookford Drive near Royalfield Drive at about midnight.
The homeowners said they heard a loud bang; everything looked bright and white and then went dead.
Officials said the fire was contained to the attic. It appears the lightning struck the house and traveled through electrical wiring, investigators said.
No injuries were reported.
