HOUSTON -

One man was killed and three others were injured early Sunday morning during a poker game at a Northeast Harris County home.

Harris County deputies said, four men were playing poker at a home in the 1100 block of Varnell Street when a fight broke out.

According to police, one man opened fire on the other men after he was asked to leave.

Police said the suspect was also shot when one of the men inside the home decided to fight back.

The suspect fled the scene, then called police from a Shell gas station at the corner of Mount Houston Road and Eastex Freeway, deputies said.

The suspect was taken to the hospital, and is in critical condition, according to police.

Investigators said the three men inside the home were taken to the hospital where two of them are in stable condition.

One man later died.
