Police: Driver speeding, on cell phone at time of crash
A freeway has reopened after a driver was killed in a collision.
Houston police said five vehicles were involved in the wreck on the inbound lanes of the Northwest Freeway near Mangum about 3 p.m.
Detectives said the driver of a Ford Taurus caused the collision by swerving across the freeway. That driver was killed, investigators said.
Police believe the driver was speeding and on his cell phone at the time of the crash.
A second person was taken to a hospital, but that person's condition was not released.
All of the eastbound lanes were closed at Bingle. Traffic already past that point was diverted to the feeder road. All lanes reopened about 6:45 p.m.
