3 shot, killed in Stafford car wash shooting
Police are investigating a shooting at a Stafford car wash that left three people dead.
Stafford Police Sgt. James Leedom said officers were called out to the car wash around 10:15 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found three shooting victims.
One of them died at the scene. Family members told Local 2 Dunta Borem just graduated from Dulles High School last spring, and was working at the car wash to support a 1-year-old daughter.
Stafford police have not released a lot of details, but according to the medical examiner, two others died after they were rushed to the hospital.
Borem's uncle, Steve Acklen, said the owner of the business was a long-time friend. He said his friend, nephew and another worker ended up losing their lives all because this friend was trying to help someone else.
“We were just having a conversation, trying to come up and help, like help the other guys to show them that there is a better way versus the street, but a lot of guys get envious and jealous and whatever and things like this happen,” said Acklen.
Witnesses and family members told Local 2 that the suspect in this case apparently was terminated from the car wash and then went out to get a gun in his car; but that has not yet been confirmed by Stafford police, who should be releasing more information on Monday.
