GALVESTON, Texas – A person died in a two-alarm house fire in Galveston on Monday.
Galveston firefighters battled flames at a home in the 2400 block of Avenue P ½ about 9:20 p.m.

The fire quickly spread to a second floor and crews called for more help.
Firefighters went into the home and found two people. One person died at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Their names were not released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
