Authorities say one person has died during an exchange of gunfire with sheriff's deputies north of Waco on U.S. Business 77.
McLennan County Chief Deputy Sheriff Matt Cawthon tells the Waco Herald-Tribune that deputies on Saturday were trying to pull over a vehicle for a suspected traffic violation when the driver wouldn't stop. High speeds were not involved.
When the driver did eventually pull over, there was an exchange of gunfire. Cawthorn says one person was fatally shot.
The newspaper reports it was not immediately clear whether the deceased person was alone in the vehicle or if the driver was the shooter.
Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
