Man found shot to death after chase, deputies say

HOUSTON – A man was found shot to death after a police chase Saturday in west Houston, deputies said.

Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies said they were responding to reports of a man in a parking lot with a gun who was threatening to kill himself. 

Deputies spotted the man fled the scene in a white pickup truck at 11:30 a.m. heading south on the Beltway. The man led deputies on a short chase before the truck crashed into a barricade and came to a slow stop.

Deputies found the man dead with a gunshot wound to his head.

No deputies discharged their weapons during the incident.

No other injuries were reported.

The exit ramp of Beltway 8 South going toward the Katy Freeway was blocked while deputies investigated and cleared the scene. 

The man's identity is unknown.
