HOUSTON -

One man escaped and another ended up behind bars after a chase through southwest Houston.

It started around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, when two suspects carjacked and robbed a man off of Braeswood Boulevard.

According to reports, the victim tracked his cell phone and told police where it was located.

"[Officers] were able to track the cell phone in the car to the area of Beechnut and Fondren," said Lieutenant Larry Crowson with the Houston Police Department.  "[Police] sent an undercover officer in, [who] saw the stolen vehicle, along with the two males."

Police said the suspects jumped into two cars and drove off, leading police on a chase through town.

One of the drivers abandoned the stolen car and managed to evade capture.  The other driver crashed into a bus stop and took off running.

"They pursued the other vehicle to Beechnut and Gessner, where the driver jumped out and ran on foot into the bayou," Lt. Crowson said.

That driver attempted to hide in a bayou culvert under the street, but eventually surrendered, police said.

Neither of the suspects' identities has been released.
