1 arrested, 1 on the run after aggravated robbery in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – One man has been arrested and another is still on the run after an aggravated robbery in Porter on Wednesday around midnight.

A clerk at the CVS in the 23800 block of FM 1314 was approached by two men wearing hoodies and masks and both brandishing handguns, according to police.

The men told the clerk to take them to the safe and open it or they would shoot him. The clerk told them he needed a manager to open the safe.

The manager saw the situation and wen to the bathroom to call 911. While on the phone with 911, the men found the manager in the bathroom and took him to the safe room, along with the other employee, police said.

After not getting any money from the safe, the men left the scene. The employees remained in the safe room until police arrived.

During the robbery, the Montgomery County dispatch center aired the robbery information that was provided by the manager. An off-duty deputy pulled into the parking lot of the CVS as one of the men was leaving the store.

A foot pursuit ensued, with the deputy chasing the man he saw leaving the store. Jhalen Tarek Demming, 19, was apprehended and a firearm was recovered.

The second suspect has not been identified.

Descriptions of the second man say he is black, about 6 feet tall and was wearing a white hoodie and white sweat pants.

Demming was charged with aggravated robbery.

The investigation is on-going and investigators are in the process of reviewing evidence.
