DICKINSON, Texas -

A shelter-in-place was lifted after a chemical spill threatened residents in Dickinson.

Police responded to the spill around 10:45 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities said there was a smoky haze coming from the Penreco chemical plant.

Penreco said Oleum was spilling and that the chemical could be toxic.

Traffic from FM 517 to FM 1266 was closed off until the spill was cleaned up.

During that time, there was a mile-wide shelter-in-place.

No one was injured.
