'Hoppy' ending: Stolen bunnies returned
Owner relived after she's reunited with bunnies
You could call it a "hoppy" ending. Two alleged bunny bandits decided to return two rabbits they allegedly stole from a Galveston sanctuary after seeing surveillance video of themselves broadcast on KPRC Local 2 Monday.
The bunnies were taken from the Victorian Bed and Breakfast in Galveston about two weeks ago.
On Monday, KPRC reporter Gary Striewski spoke with innkeeper Marcy Hanson about the incident.
"At 6:21 last night, I was watching Channel 2 and I was watching the story about our bunnies. I guess the bad guys were watching, too," said Hanson. "They saw the video of themselves on TV and the phone rang and he said, 'I had no idea I was committing such a serious crime.'"
The men promised to return the two bunnies, named GiGi and Muffin, but they didn't want to get caught in the act a second time.
"They snagged someone walking their dog and asked her to deliver them to me," said Hanson.
Hanson said she is relieved to have the two prized rabbits back home with the rest of their furry friends.
"Oh my God, I hugged them and squeezed them and kissed them," said Hanson. "I"m so grateful to Channel 2."
