WASHINGTON -- A Minnesota company is recalling frozen sugar cookie dough after discovering the product contains unlabeled egg ingredients.
Those ingredients pose a risk of severe reactions in people allergic to eggs.
The products are not harmful unless the consumer is allergic to eggs.
Best Brands Corp. said consumers may have purchased the Custom Sugar Precut Frozen Cookie Dough as baked goods at bakeries or in individual packages with grocery store labels.
The cookies came in various shapes and sizes, both decorated and plain.
The product was distributed to retail bakeries, grocery store bakeries and other foodservice outlets in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
The company said consumers with egg allergies should not eat the cookies and instead return them to the place of purchase to check if they're part of the recall.
Best Brands is working with the Food and Drug Administration on the recall and plans to redistribute the product with correct labels.
Consumers can call Best Brands at (800) 328-2068 for more recall information.
