LONDON -- Forget about "blue sky thinking" or "singing from the same hymn sheet."
A poll by a British recruitment firm says those are the top two worst phrases you'll hear in the workplace this year.
The best jargon in the poll was "thought grenade," which means an explosive good idea. Another was "let's sunset that," which means putting a bad idea to rest.
Office Angels asked about 1,600 office workers to rate the buzzwords for 2007. Respondents selected the the must-use buzzwords designed to impress in 2007, the company said.
Also among the good:
"Little ‘r’ me," which is a request for a private reply to an e-mail. "Information touchpoint," which means that office workers will no longer attend meetings in 2007, instead Information Touchpoints will be on the daily agenda.Among the bad:
- "Blue sky thinking."
- "Singing from the same hymn sheet."
- "Let’s take it offline."
- "Park that thought."
Among the ugly:
- "Getting down with the kids." (i.e. junior office workers)
- "Open up your kimono."
- "Let’s raise the anchor and let this one drift."
- "There’s no I in team."
