Kia recalls 2009 Borrego's over brake issue
Company: Pedal mounts can break off in a collision
Kia Motors announced a recall of its 2009 model year Borrego vehicles after it was determined that certain pedal mounts may have a fiberglass composition that allows them to break off in a collision where the impact has not immobilized the vehicle, which would then allow the vehicle to roll.
The automaker said the recall affects about 21,912 Borrego vehicles manufactured from May 2, 2008, through Jan. 20, 2009, that are equipped with non-adjustable brake pedals.
Kia officials said they will notify owners of the SUV, and dealers will replace the brake pedal mount free of charge.
