No. 1: Be in charge
Mom and Dad, help your kids stay sharp by motivating and encouraging them. More direct, help with a summer schedule lesson plan and take your kids to educational events and places.
If they like art, take them to a gallery. If they like cars, take them to a car show. Hey, part of you always wanted to be a teacher, admit it. Sneak in a lesson of your own. Got a youngster learning to read? Cook up some alphabet soup!
This is about Mom and Dad participating, and also an alternative learning environment for kids.
Students, maybe you don't care about literature but love to build things. Maybe you've read enough poetry and want to write some yourself. Get creative; use what's around you. Summer's your chance to learn and practice what you want.
Just know that learning doesn't stop once you leave the school.
