Donating blood at a reputable donation site is safe, the Mayo Clinic states.

Sterile, disposable equipment is used so there is no risk of catching an infection from another donor, according to the hospital.

According to the Mayo Clinic, healthy adults can typically donate a pint of blood. It takes about 24 hours after donating blood for a person’s body to replenish the lost fluids. It takes a few weeks for your body to produce enough red blood cells to replace the ones you lost through the donation.
