The Magic Ingredient

You don't need to buy expensive designer labels to give your home a good, green cleansing. All you really need is something you probably already have (or can get easily): vinegar. The active ingredient in vinegar is acetic acid, a strong cleaning agent that dissolves buildup, tarnish, dirt, and grease from both porous and nonporous surfaces. It also kills bacteria, mold, and germs. White vinegar is best because it is actually diluted acetic acid and is therefore less harsh on your surfaces. (True vinegar can stain light wood and fabrics. Don't use vinegar on marble or granite surfaces because it may etch the stone.)
