Police Catch NASA Intern Soliciting Sex From Girl, 13

Authorities Said Man Sent Graphic Photos Of Self To Undercover Officer

UPDATED: 1:11 pm CST February 23, 2006

A University Of Houston student accused of soliciting sex from a minor was arrested Wednesday at NASA's Johnson Space Center, where he is interning, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Travis Johnson, 23, was arrested at JSC Wednesday afternoon.

Police in Lake Worth, near Fort Worth, said Johnson wrote and sent graphic photos of himself to a person who he thought was a 13-year-old girl.

The 13-year-old girl turned out to be an officer with the Lake Worth Police Department posing as a teen.

"We looked at him as an aggressive pedophile or aggressive online predator. The mere act of soliciting sex online with a 13-year-old is a crime in of itself," Lake Worth Police Department Chief Brett McGuire said.

Authorities charged Johnson with soliciting a minor.
