HOUSTON -- KPRC Local 2 investigative reporter Stephen Dean wrote a book to help protect children from Internet predators.
Dean has been covering Internet crimes since 1996.
His reporting on KPRC Local 2 sent a predator schoolteacher to prison in 2001. Other arrests followed in 2004 and 2005 when KPRC Local 2 became one of the first stations in the nation to launch an expose of Internet predators by posing as a child in various chat rooms.
His book "Setting the Trap for Internet Predators" goes on sale next week. It's based largely on his reporting at KPRC Local 2.
Dean will also be talking to nearly 3,000 middle school students in two different school districts about the dangers of online predators.
First, he'll speak to McAdams Junior High in the Dickinson School District, and then he'll address the student body at Santa Fe Junior High in the Santa Fe School District.
