HOUSTON, Posted 3:12 p.m. CDT September 13, 2000 -- The search for college scholarships has reached beyond the counselor's office and onto the Internet.

Fastweb.com is a database of 500,000 scholarships available to students.

Students fill out a personal profile and the site helps match them with the right scholarship.

Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 have been awarded for schools across the country.

The service is free, but the site does give the profile information to advertisers.
