General Position Description:
KPRC-TV Local 2, the Post Newsweek owned-NBC station in Houston, Texas has an opening for an air operations technical manager to oversee the daily coordination of operational and technical issues for all broadcast related events (syndication, local programming, commercials, etc.).

Specifically, this role will supervise ingest and preparation of syndicated shows and related feeds, oversee delivery of content to transmitter and other distribution outlets, and manage daily schedules and special requests to ensure the successful completion of daily work related to the preparation and airing of program, news and commercial content. This position requires good anticipatory skills, clear communication, a strong understanding of technical operations and daily workflows, and the ability to quickly identify potential problems and provide a backup plan. This person will also handle the troubleshooting of technical issues and training/re-training when necessary, ensuring KPRC's Air Operations maintain the highest level of quality control. The ideal candidate must be able to perform duties quickly and efficiently and work well under pressure. This position reports to the Chief Engineer.

-Minimum of 5 years of master control experience and fluent in television automation systems; 3 years in supervisory role preferred.
-Experience with Florical Automation systems, Compusat and Telestream Traffic Manager is preferred.
-A demonstrated ability to manage people and effectively delegate tasks is required
-Strong technical understanding of broadcast signal types, audio and video formats, sync, captioning, and signal flow
-Strong understanding of Windows and FTP
-Familiarity with video and audio codecs
-The ability to read technical/signal flow drawings
-Familiarity with traditional terrestrial and satellite broadcast distribution technology as well as emerging IP delivery technologies.
