HOUSTON -

On the heels of Thursday morning sleet in southeast Texas, another round of freezing precipitation might be moving through the area early Friday.  With temperatures at or slightly below freezing during the morning drive, slick spots on the roads are likely, especially to the west and north of Houston.  Ice accumulation from freezing rain could cause bridges and overpasses to be most dangerous.

Temperatures will drop below freezing in many outlying areas by mid-Thursday evening.  Overnight lows will be in the upper 20s north of Houston and between 30 and 32 degrees west of town.  Temperatures will probably not rise above freezing until mid- to late-morning.  In extreme northern areas sub-freezing temperatures could last into the afternoon on Friday.  Any time precipitation coincides with temperatures at or below freezing, icy roadways are a real risk.

Temperatures will finally begin to moderate Friday evening into Saturday.  Temperatures will stay above freezing overnight and warm into the 60s in the afternoon this weekend.
