The pockets of heavy rain that plagued parts of the area over the weekend will not continue in and around Houston on Monday.
Scattered showers will still be possible, especially mid to late afternoon when temperatures peak in the mid-80s. The best chance for widespread rain will be well west and well north of the city -- in north and central Texas.
Houston's chance for rain will increase Tuesday and Wednesday as a fall cold front creeps toward the Gulf Coast. Ahead of the front, warm and humid summer weather will prevail. The front will pass through the area early Wednesday morning, bringing with it the area's best chance for widespread rain.
After the front passes, temperatures will be noticeably cooler. Highs will be in the 70s with lows near 60 degrees. Rain will still be possible behind the front, but no flooding is expected.
