Latest natural way to fight fine lines includes new injectable

Doctor suggests new hyaluronic acid filler called Belotero Balance

HOUSTON – Cosmetic procedures for women are changing. Doctors are focusing less on surgical procedures like breast augmentations and more on less invasive ways to erase the signs of aging.

The latest natural way to fight fine lines includes a new injectable.

With a job in retail, Dawn Krat is always trying to put her best face forward. She went to Dermatologist Dr. Janet Allenby looking for a way to address a specific concern.

"To alleviate the fine lines around my mouth without adding volume," according to Krat.

The solution Allenby suggested is a new hyaluronic acid filler called Belotero Balance.

"It plumps up very gently and that's all your need around the mouth," said Allenby.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar that's found in the connective tissue of the body. But, as we age, hyaluronic acid diminishes.

There are other hyaluronic acid fillers on the market, but there were drawbacks when injected too close to the surface of the skin, where fine lines occur.

Belotero Balance is lightweight compared to other hyaluronic acid fillers and distributes more evenly, reducing the risk of lumpiness.

"It has improved our ability to make these lines around the mouth better because that really is a problem for a lot of women," said Allenby.

Allenby adds Belotero alone won't turn back the hands of time, but it's a great addition to the injectables doctors have to ease the signs of aging.

Each syringe of Belotero costs between $500 to $700. It takes one to two syringes to get results, in most cases.
